BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) filed a criminal defamation case against Minister Konda Surekha at the Nampally court.
The case was filed following Surekha’s allegedly baseless defamatory remarks aimed at damaging KTR’s personal and professional image.
KTR had earlier issued a legal notice to Surekha, demanding a public apology for her statements.
However, as Surekha failed to withdraw her comments, KTR escalated the matter by filing a criminal case.
In his plea, KTR emphasised that such defamatory statements cannot be left unaddressed, as they cause personal harm and undermine public confidence in him. He pointed out that this is not the first time Surekha has engaged in defamatory behaviour.
He reminded the court that she had earlier faced reprimands from the Election Commission for making similar baseless statements.
KTR said this pattern of conduct reflects a deliberate attempt to malign his reputation through malicious behaviour. By filing this case, KTR stressed his commitment to holding Surekha legally accountable.
He argued that her repeated statements were part of a larger conspiracy to tarnish his image, and asked the court to recognise these actions as criminal acts under defamation laws.
KTR said these defamatory remarks were not merely political attacks but calculated attempts to wreck his public image.
KTR’s legal action is aimed at deterring future misinformation campaigns and to ensure that such behaviour faces appropriate legal consequences. He remains firm in his stance that accountability is essential to preserving political decorum and protecting personal reputations from malicious attacks.
