Kisan Congress Vice-President M. Kodanda Reddy said that Municipal Minister KT Ramarao is the first culprit in the sale of lands in Budvel by the government. He said that the BRS government had handed over 10,000 acres to builders out of the 24 lakh acres of assigned land.

Speaking to the media along with TPCC Vice-President Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday, Kodanda said that many irregularities are taking place under KCR’s rule regarding the lands given by former Prime Minister, the late Indira Gandhi, through land reforms.
He said that the government has been handing over assigned lands in Rangareddy, Medak and Nalgonda to builders against the law.

Kodanda said that the then government had distributed 282 acres in Budvel to Dalits as per the land reform laws. The RDO also issued notices making it clear that those Budvel lands were declared assigned lands in 1995 during the TDP regime.

In fact, the High Court had given a verdict in 2008 that the government has no right to take back assigned lands given to Dalits.

The lands have been with Dalits to date. But the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) conducted an e-auction on Thursday for 100 acres in Budwel.

Kodanda said that many irregularities have taken place in the name of land records purification. He said the Congress will launch a legal fight regarding Dharani Portal irregularities.

He said that the government had sold lands for Rs 99 lakh per acre while purchasing it for Rs 9 lakh per acre.

He said that the Congress will launch a protest to ensure that lands distributed by Indira Gandhi to Dalits are given back to the same people and that the sale of the lands was invalid.

He said the UPA government has allocated money for a land survey and to bring in the Title Guarantee Act.

“We made a decision not to give permission to construct buildings of more than five floors when I was Chairman of HUDA. But the present government gave permission to construct any number of floors on the 100 acres sold in Budvel. However, experts have said that high-rise buildings are not possible there as it comes under flight route,” he said.

Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the government what was the need to sell assigned lands as KCR has been stating that Telangana is a rich state.

He said that persons who purchased the lands in Kokapet, Budwel and Mokera were already benefiting from the BRS government as they are relatives of KT Ramarao and Finance Minister T. Harish Rao.

He said that lands specified by GO No: 111 were in the hands of farmers but land prices increased when the government gave a chance to builders to construct buildings of up to four lakh square feet and the government is trying to scrap GO No: 111 in connection with that.
