Former Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) emphasised the need for responsible innovation and ethical technology use. He was delivering the keynote address at the Entrepreneur Tech & Innovation Summit 2025 in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Speaking to a diverse audience of tech leaders, innovators and policymakers, KTR outlined a vision for India’s digital future while cautioning against the unintended consequences of unchecked technological growth.
Reflecting on the rapid evolution of technology in his speech, “Driving Digital India: Innovations and Strategies for a Technologically Advanced Future,” KTR noted how perceptions of technology have shifted. “Growing up, we thought technology meant the future. Today, we’re talking about the future of technology. That is evolution,” he said.
He identified Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), Quantum Computing, Extended Reality (XR), and the Internet of Bodies (IoB) as transformative fields all set to reshape industries and life. However, he reminded attendees that while technologies evolve, fundamental human needs remain unchanged.
He stressed that innovation should prioritise societal well-being, asserting, “The future isn’t something we enter — it is something we create,” he said.
While he praised the role of drones in agriculture, he also raised concerns over privacy risks. “Create great technology without educating society, and you risk chaos like handing a nuclear weapon to a maniac,” he cautioned, calling for ethical frameworks to accompany technological progress.
