The Trial fame Kubbra Sait is so jolly and gleeful expressing her exclusive participation in our special weekly column killing her valuable time from a patio in Cairnes — speaking with us after watching a splendid sunset that could be witnessed from a boat. She was just so carefree!
“I am happy to report that the Great Barrier Reef is not dying! The restoration is in process. There is a lot of panic around the world, the media is reporting some crazy information and most of us only read the headlines! Human population has a spin like crazy, we are quite notorious with nature at large yet I saw so many conservationists, they are taking care of the reef. When I went down to the reef—there were researchers still picking up information. I have been a diver for the past ten years! As soon as you hit the bottom and I literally mean it: the joy I experienced. Corals came alive! Below five metres, the light starts to cut the colour so we don’t see red enough! So I saw a lot of pink….but when you come up, and do colour corrections you will still see a lot more hues of red. It’s not because the coral reef is pink! There were magnificent hues of pink and green, there were tonnes of beautiful fish and I got to see a cute, baby reef shark. I remember my dive instructor saying we may or may not see the wild and when I saw the baby shark, I literally screamed inside the water! I have a good forty minute footage on it. That’s what is really the update from The Great Barrier Reef, people do care about nature over there,” describes the actress.
She realised Australians as a country love to go out! Smoking, by the way, is not at all allowed — it’s extremely frowned upon in the entire continent. They are so careful, always thinking about nature surrounding them.
If you have your best bikinis, you are set! Now the thing is she had so many different topographies to go to so she was in a tropical little town as compared to Sydney and Melbourne, at the moment the latter is super cold. She went out on a boat and she was wearing her cotton co-ord set. She thinks people here are more functional so they are really out here to enjoy themselves in the most comfortable way possible. It’s unlike any other city that she has seen! She has been to Michelin star restaurants where people are usually dressed down. She found that so discerning! So when she was speaking about Australia, she was actually speaking about simplicity.
“The Swedish says there is no such thing called bad weather, it’s only bad clothing! If you are dressed incorrectly, you will always feel hot or too cold. So you can count on me to talk to strangers, any day and any time! Did you know that it’s not the Amazon Rainforest that are the oldest, it’s the rainforest in Australia in the world. Now, that’s something that I learnt! There were crocodiles in the ocean — you cannot swim unintended without a lifeguard in the ocean in Brisbane because they can charge you! They don’t even need too much depth, the crocodile is having his eyes on you. If they see your toes/feet they will come charging at you and you cannot compete with a crocodile. The locals told me this! I also went to watch a game between England, and Colombia and as we walked in, saw so many supporters for the latter. I almost thought it’s going to be a one-sided game! In the end, the former won. The English just rose up from the stands, incredible!| she gives us an account.
She personally would love for us to pick a boutique hotel, for example, in Sydney, she stayed at the Kimpton Margot, in Cairnes she was living on a beach resort called Thala Beach Nature Reserve. She was living her best life there! She never really understood why we need to stay at the biggest of the biggest hotels to have the best experience? Pick something that’s experimental! When she wants to unwind at the end of everything, that’s when she picks her luxury hotel. She would stay in a tent as happily as she would in a luxurious hideaway! “Many years ago I also did the great white cage shark diving, much later I learnt that it may not be the best thing to do. We were wearing our thick suits, put in fifteen degrees of water while I watched massive sharks come towards me — it was the scariest experience of my life. Do it with guidance, never venture out alone.” She was living the entire MasterChef experience in Australia!
