Minister for Revenue and Registrations & Stamps, Anagani Satya Prasad, announced that land registration values in Andhra Pradesh would be revised upwards from February 1, with increases ranging between 15% and 20%, depending on growth centres. He instructed officials to submit a comprehensive report by January 15 to determine areas where values should be raised or reduced.
The minister chaired a review meeting at the Registration & Stamps Department’s Inspector General (IG) Office in Tadepalli on Monday. Speaking after the meeting, he stated that while the state is recovering from the financial burden inherited from the previous YSRCP government, increased revenue is necessary to meet administrative needs.
He highlighted that land registration values would be increased in growth corridors and areas with high land prices. Criticising the previous government for arbitrarily revising values without a scientific approach, he noted that in some regions, registration values exceeded market prices. To address this imbalance, the current government plans to reduce values in such areas, marking the first time in the state’s history that registration values will be lowered.
Expressing concern over public grievances, the minister pointed out that about 10% of complaints in the Registrations & Stamps Department and several in the Revenue Department remain unresolved. He assured that these issues would be addressed within a stipulated timeframe.
Minister Satya Prasad also revealed that the Registrations & Stamps Department has recorded increased revenue over the past six months, barring September, and is on track to achieve its Rs 9,500 crore target for the 2024-25 financial year.
Additionally, he stated that the government is fostering a realtor-friendly environment, contrasting it with the challenges faced under the previous administration. As part of efforts to resolve land disputes, the government is conducting Revenue Sadassulu across the state, during which 11,000 out of 70,000 complaints were resolved on the spot.
Revenue Department Special Chief Secretary Sisodia, IG Seshagiri Babu, and other officials participated in the review meeting.
