Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that the BRS government set an example for the nation in implementing welfare schemes.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao increased the pensions for senior citizens, physically challenged persons and others. The Telugu Desam and the Congress governments used to provide a mere Rs 200 pensions. Now, the BRS government increased the pensions to Rs 2,000, he said and added that Telangana is the only State which enhanced the pension for physically challenged persons from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000.
Apart from it, the KCR kits, aimed at reducing anaemia and improving haemoglobin levels in pregnant women, were distributed to pregnant women. The Mission Bhagiratha helped provide potable water to people even in midsummer.
A brainchild of the Chief Minister, the Mission Bhagiratha envisages the provision of drinking water throughout the State. The project obviated the need for women to trek miles to fetch drinking water, he pointed out.
In response to the request by the MLA for funds to revamp drainage in Medak district, Harish assured the people that the State government would sanction Rs 20 crore in two days for revamping the drainage system.hyderabad
