Urges NHAI authorities to pay the pending compensation to the farmers

Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, former minister and the TDP State general secretary, has demanded that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) do justice to the farmers who gave away their lands for the construction of China Avutapalli-Gollapudi six-lane NHAI bypass. The NHAI officials should lay service roads adjacent to the bypass road for the farmers to go to their farm fields, Uma urged.
Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, along with farmers who had given their lands for the bypass road, met NHAI Project Director Narayana Reddy at his office at Krishna Lanka in Vijayawada on Tuesday. He discussed with them the long-pending compensation and submitted a representation in this regard.
Later, speaking to the media, Uma said that several farmers belonging to Gollapudi, Rayanapadu and other villages had given away their lands for the construction of the NHAI six-lane bypass under package-3. However, they have not received any compensation so far. Also, the farmers can’t go to their own farms from the bypass road because the NHAI officials are not laying the service road, he added.
Further, he stated that due to the lack of coordination between the Revenue Department and the NHAI, the farmers are facing a lot of troubles. They constructed a retaining wall to the bypass road to prevent farmers and residents from going to their farms and house plots, he added.
Vijayawada Rural former MP Vadlamudi Jagan Mohan Rao, TDP leader V Chalapathi Rao and others were present.
