As the Kharif season approaches, Minister for Agriculture K Atchannaidu has issued orders to the authorities to ensure that farmers do not face a shortage of seeds and fertilisers.
The Agriculture Minister held a review meeting with the Agriculture Department officials here on Saturday. He said that the farmers will face a lot of difficulties with seed, urea and fertilisers if the officials fail to provide them during sowing. He said that the Telugu Desam government is a farmer-friendly government hence it gave top priority to the farming community in the election manifesto and they adhered to fulfill all agriculture-related assurances without fail.
Atchannaidu said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is planning to distribute PM Kisan for farmers on June 18 and instructed the officials to make foolproof arrangements for the same. He said that all the eligible farmers should get PM Kisan and further instructed the officials to initiate measures in this regard. Asserting the need to assist the farmers in the sowing and other issues, minister Atchannaidu said that the officials should render services in soil testing to farmers to start cultivation of suitable crops in their farmlands. He ordered the agriculture, horticulture and other department officials to be available to farmers during the Kharif season without fail and not to give any chance for any complaints.
Minister Atchannaidu asked agriculture principal secretary Gopalakrishna Dwivedi to make arrangements for the availability of quality seeds and fertilisers to farmers for the Kharif season. The officials of agriculture, horticulture, marketing, fisheries and other departments participated in the meeting.
