Life Time Achievement Award to Dr Hanumaiah

Dr B Hanumaiah (popularly known as poor people’s doctor) received Life Time Achievement Award for his yeoman’s service in the field of medicine, serving the poor for the past three and half decades. Dr Hanumaiah received the award from Dr Sharad Kumar Agarwal, IMA national president and Dr Ravi Krishna IMA state president at the Doctor’s Olympiad 2023 function in the presence of doctors from across India held at Nagarjuna University on Thursday.
Dr Hanumaiah was born in Nadigadda village in Guntur district and completed medical education from Guntur Medical College and started mMedical practice from 1977 with consultation fee of Rs 5 and became popular as poor people’s doctor. He is the chief donor and chairperson to Garimella Lakshmi Sameera East Lion’s Eye Hospital. In this hospital 22,000 cataract surgeries were done free of cost.
On receiving the award Dr Hanumaiah said, ‘I feel immense pleasure in getting the prestigious award from IMA national president and State president on this special occasion. It is like a dream which became true for me and promise to keep serving the poor. Now I feel that my responsibility has doubled and will sincerely serve the society for ever. He said, “My family members are the backbone for my success and especially my wife.” On the occasion he thanked Dr Ravi Krishna, Dr Phanindra, Dr Ravindranath , Dr Kranthi and others.
Dr Phanindra, Dr Ravindranath Garu, Dr Pattabhi Ramaiah Dr Karthik, Dr Pramod and others were present.
