The Andhra Pradesh police have taken liquor scam accused Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy into custody at Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad.
Acting on a tip-off that Kasireddy was arriving at Shamshabad airport, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the AP police rushed to the location and detained him as soon as he exited the terminal. According to reliable sources, he is being brought to Vijayawada. Kasireddy Rajasekhar Reddy is a prime accused in the AP liquor scam and had been evading arrest for the past few days. Sources revealed that he had arrived from Goa.
In a video message released earlier, Kasireddy had stated that he would appear before SIT officials at 11 am on Tuesday. At the airport, he reportedly reiterated his intention to present himself for questioning on Tuesday. However, the police, expressing a lack of trust in his assurances, proceeded to detain him. It is learnt that the police suspect he may have planned to flee the country using a fake passport.
Kasireddy’s advocates had already filed anticipatory bail petitions in the AP High Court, which were subsequently rejected. Interestingly, another accused in the case, former MP V. Vijayasai Reddy, appeared before the SIT a couple of days ago.
During his appearance, Vijayasai Reddy alleged that Kasireddy is the mastermind behind the scam. In response to these accusations, Kasireddy stated in his video message that since his anticipatory bail petition is under judicial consideration, he preferred not to comment further.
