The Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, expressed concern over the lack of employment opportunities for local youth and women in Hyderabad due to inadequate skills.
Speaking during an inspection of community hall construction work at Ratnanagar and Sajjanagar in the Secunderabad parliament constituency, he emphasised that outside candidates are securing jobs in the city while locals are left behind due to insufficient training.
“Jobs are available in Hyderabad, but they are going to outsiders because our youth lack skills. If we want locals to benefit, then our governments, leaders, and officials must focus on large-scale skill training,” he said.
He pointed to the ongoing programme at Barkatpura, where a skill centre under his leadership is already providing training to women. He said more such centres must be established all over the city to improve the employment prospects of locals.
Kishan urged young people and women to prioritise upskilling and embrace training to secure better opportunities.
He also reviewed the construction of community halls at Ratnanagar and Satyanagar, noting that when he was an MLA, he had sanctioned a community hall in Ratnanagar. “Given the growing population, another facility is now being constructed. I inspected the work,” he said.
