HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh arrived in Visakhapatnam for a two-day visit, during which he held the 44th Praja Darbar at the district party office. The event served as a platform for residents to voice their concerns, and Lokesh demonstrated a keen interest in addressing the various grievances presented by the public.
A significant focus of the Darbar was the issue raised by Burma Kandishikulu Residents’ Welfare Association representatives. They urged immediate action against encroachments on land belonging to the Burmese Kandishikas, highlighting that over 7,000 families are still awaiting justice. Minister Lokesh assured them, stating, “I will look into this matter and take necessary steps to ensure justice is served.”
The minister also responded to concerns from contract RTC drivers, who advocate for regularising their positions. Many of these drivers were selected in 2013 but only began their duties in 2022. Minister Lokesh promised to investigate their concerns and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
Other issues discussed during the event included land injustices, requests for job support, and the recovery of retirement savings lost in Agrigold. Personal stories from residents resonated deeply with the minister. Muchakkarla Dharalakshmi, visibly emotional, shared the hardships she faced following her husband’s passing due to stress related to their circumstances. Lokesh reassured her, saying, “I will assist you in any way possible.”
Additionally, engineering graduate Battula Durga Praneet sought job opportunities, to which Minister Lokesh responded, “We will assist you in finding suitable job opportunities.”
Anasuri Madhusudana Rao also requested a job for his son, and the minister pledged to look into the matter. Minister Lokesh reiterated his commitment to addressing the concerns raised by the residents.
“Your voices are important, and I will do my best to ensure that justice is served,” he affirmed, leaving attendees hopeful for timely resolutions to their issues.
