In response to Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s derogatory remarks against Backward Classes (BCs) by labelling them as paid and drama artists, Nara Lokesh, the TDP national general secretary, challenged YSRCP leaders to engage in an open debate to determine which government truly champions BC welfare.

While addressing a massive public meeting at Addanki in the combined Prakasam district during his padayatra on Sunday, Lokesh asked, “I am ready for an open debate on under whose regime justice is done for BCs. Are the YSRCP leaders ready for it?” He also questioned Jagan’s alleged inaction in helping a single BC family.

Lokesh affirmed that the TDP, once in power, would take all measures to ensure the safety and security of BCs. He pledged to enact a special legislation for this purpose. Furthermore, he pointed out the apparent silence of BC leaders within the YSRCP despite the lack of funds allocated for corporations and the withdrawal of various welfare schemes.

Accusing Jagan of benefiting from illegal sand mining, Lokesh claimed that the Chief Minister was making an exorbitant amount of money, approximately Rs 3 crore daily, through the sand mafia. He emphasised that the price of a tractor-load of sand had significantly increased during Jagan’s regime, highlighting the alleged corruption involved.

Addressing the youth, Lokesh promised that the TDP would release a job calendar every year once they come to power, ensuring timely job opportunities for aspiring candidates. He also pledged to fill all pending job vacancies and establish study circles in all district headquarters towns. Additionally, he expressed the TDP’s ambition to transform Donakonda into an industrial hub, criticising Jagan’s lack of attention to this plan.

Lokesh asserted that the YSRCP was already facing significant challenges and claimed that the people were ready to reject the party. He commenced his 170th day Yuva Galam padayatra at Madhura Nagar campsite with the support of several party leaders and activists.
