Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh has fulfilled his commitment to providing free permanent land titles to people living on government land in Mangalagiri. Speaking at a ceremony in Undavalli, the Minister handed over the first set of pattas to the family of R Govindu, who has been residing in the Kondavala region of Mangalagiri for over 15 years.
Lokesh stated that this initiative was a key promise made during his padayatra in the constituency, aimed at addressing the hardships faced by local residents. Over the years, many people had built homes on government land, primarily on forest, railway, and irrigation properties. The Minister said, “Relocating these families to other areas and rebuilding their homes would be financially burdensome. After understanding their struggles, I promised to grant them permanent titles, and today, I am pleased to fulfil that promise.” As part of the first phase, 3,000 land pattas were distributed.
Reflecting on his political journey, Lokesh spoke about his narrow defeat in the 2019 elections by a margin of 5,300 votes. Despite the setback, he said he had gained the trust of the people through sustained efforts and welfare initiatives. “Over the last five years, I have implemented 26 welfare schemes in Mangalagiri using my own funds, including free drinking water tankers, gravel road construction, oxygen and telemedicine services during the COVID-19 crisis, and health ambulances,” he said. Lokesh also introduced sports kits for young people, established the Mangalagiri Premier League, and developed playgrounds for local communities.
Highlighting further development plans, the Minister said that Mangalagiri is undergoing extensive infrastructure improvements, including parks, sports grounds, underground drainage, and modernised public markets. Notable future projects include a 100-bed hospital, the renovation of the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, and the development of a jewellery park to create employment opportunities for local youth.
Lokesh reiterated his commitment to making Mangalagiri a stronghold for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), citing the overwhelming mandate he received in the 2024 elections. “We aim to make Mangalagiri the number one constituency in the state and a TDP fortress,” he added.
The Minister further stated that the distribution of land pattas marks the fulfilment of a crucial promise made to the people of Mangalagiri. “I will continue working to resolve all remaining issues, and the development of Mangalagiri will remain a priority,” he assured.
