Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh launched a blistering attack on former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday, accusing him and his media outlet of deeply insulting women—particularly those who gave up their lands for the construction of Amaravati, the capital city.
Condemning derogatory remarks allegedly made through Sakshi media, Lokesh described them as disgraceful to women’s dignity and a new low in political discourse. “Jagan Mohan Reddy, how could you allow such shameful and false propaganda filled with hatred against Amaravati and the self-respecting women who contributed to it?” he questioned. Lokesh warned that any individual or party that insults women would eventually disappear. “Trying to spit venom on Amaravati will only backfire and hit Tadepalli Palace itself,” he said, adding that Amaravati is a sacred capital, built on the sacrifices of thousands of women and farmers.
Describing Amaravati as a land of peace and devotion, blessed by all faiths, Lokesh said even the divine would oppose what he called the “evil” of Jagan. “A man who disrespects his own mother and sister cannot understand the value of women’s sacrifices,” he remarked.
He further emphasised that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has always maintained that those who harm women will not be spared. “Since student days, we have taught our youth to respect women. We are legally punishing anyone who undermines women’s self-respect.”
Lokesh strongly condemned gender-insensitive remarks such as “wear bangles” and “cry like girls” made by YSRCP leaders, asserting that the coalition government would not tolerate such behaviour. He demanded an unconditional public apology from Jagan Mohan Reddy for insulting women across the state.
