Minister for Education, IT, Electronics and RTGS, Nara Lokesh, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday evening. The meeting follows confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office, prompting Lokesh to curtail his ongoing tour of Anantapur district and travel via Hyderabad to the national capital.
This high-level interaction comes on the heels of two earlier invitations extended by the Prime Minister, including a recent encounter during the relaunch of development works in Amaravati. At that event, Modi personally invited Lokesh to visit Delhi. The formal appointment was subsequently secured and confirmed for May 17.
The meeting carries considerable political weight, with the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP alliance now firmly in power in Andhra Pradesh under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The State also holds a vital position within the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Centre.
According to sources, Lokesh is expected to brief the Prime Minister on the current situation in Andhra Pradesh, with particular emphasis on the setbacks faced under the previous administration and the new coalition’s efforts to drive recovery and development. Discussions are likely to cover crucial state priorities such as Central funding for the Amaravati capital project, progress on the Polavaram irrigation scheme, and other key infrastructure initiatives.
In addition, Lokesh is set to present a coffee table book chronicling his Yuvagalam Padayatra, the state-wide walkathon he undertook to engage with young people and highlight regional challenges.
Political analysts view the meeting as a significant milestone in Lokesh’s political trajectory, potentially paving the way for a larger role within the party. With the TDP’s annual conclave, Mahanadu, slated to be held in Kadapa soon, speculation is rife that Lokesh could emerge as a more prominent figure in the party’s future leadership.
