Look back at the eye-care trends of 2023

The eye care is poised for a dramatic shift, driven by technological advancements that reshaped how we diagnose, treat, and manage ocular health. Vision impairment, a prevalent concern globally, is becoming a focal point due to the country’s ageing population and high prevalence of inherited eye diseases. Currently, 25% of visually impaired individuals globally call us home, and this percentage is poised to rise as the nation’s population ages and expands. Worryingly, estimates suggest that the potential loss of productivity due to vision impairment in our country is INR 646 billion (29.4 billion). As an overwhelming 80-85% of our perception, learning, cognition, and daily activities are intricately linked to vision, innovations in eye care technologies have never been more crucial.
