South India’s largest Rath Yatra casts a spell on city denizens

The streets of Vijayawada were adorned with splendour as the largest Rath Yatra in South India, organised by ISKCON Vijayawada, mesmerised the city.

The grand event was graced by Governor, Abdul Nazir, who attended as the chief guest. He performed a ‘puja’ for the Lord and inaugurated the event, marking the commencement of the breathtaking procession.

Spanning an impressive 8 km, the procession was a sight to behold.

As the Rath Yatra traversed its course, devotees and onlookers were treated to ‘Prasadam’, which was distributed generously along the entire route. The festive atmosphere was further enhanced by the participation of notable dignitaries, including former Member of Parliament, Gokaraju Gangaraju, Vijayawada Central MLA, Malladi Vishnu, Avinash, Endowment Commissioner Satyanarayana, Pathuri Nagabhushnam (former ZP Chairman), as well as Chakradhari Das and Mukund Madhav Das, the Presidents of ISKCON Vijayawada, along with Presidents from eight other temples. his vibrant celebration of spirituality and devotion took place on Saturday, leaving a profound impact on all attendees.

It served as a resounding reminder of the values of universal brotherhood, peace, and joy.

The event commenced at D-Address mall, where an enchanting meditative kirtan (chanting) captivated the participants. Devotees from Russia and Ukraine joined forces, offering their melodious voices for the pleasure of the Lord. The soul-stirring rhythms transported individuals to a realm of deep introspection and collective devotion. Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, Pune Shiv Dole and Kerala heritage drummers accompanied Andhra Kuchipudi dancers, leaving the audience spellbound.

The Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra, with its majestic procession and profound spiritual undertones, united the people of Vijayawada in a harmonious celebration of faith and reverence.
