Six days ago, when Modi toured Kerala, people waited in two-km-long serpentine queues to welcome him. People wearing traditional attire showered petals on him. Three weeks ago, when Modi toured Chennai, people took part in large numbers in his roadshow. In Hyderabad too, the people of Telangana gave a rousing welcome to him.
Leaders must always enjoy a good rapport with people. However, it is not easy for people occupying the position of Prime Minister to connect directly with people as the PM is always busy taking crucial decisions. Still, in India, even people living in remote villages and Adivasis living forests know about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. For, he has adopted various methods to reach out to them for explaining the progress achieved by the Union government. Whenever he finds time, he tours one state or the other to inaugurate developmental works and addresses people at important venues. Even at election rallies, Modi likes to approach people and explain them the BJP’s policies.
Interestingly, it is people, rather than Modi, who yearn to maintain cordial ties with Modi, going by the response to roadshows involving the PM insouthern states. Recently, when he held roadshows in Bengaluru and Mysore of Karnataka, lakhs of people were seen standing on eitherside of the road and showering rose petals on him to extend welcome to him. It appeared as if the state was celebrating Dasara again.
Dressed in their traditional attire and performing folk shows, people, including thousands of women, welcomed Modi. The Congress leaders, who had presumed widespread anti-establishment wave in the state, were shocked to see the overwhelming response from people to Modi’s rallies. Unable to stomach the growing popularity of Modi, Congress president Mallikarjuna Kharge called Modi a poisonous snake. Several opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Manishankar Iyer have also abused Modi in unprintable words.
In fact, the BJP is not in power in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, or Telangana. Yet, the people of these states showed their love for Modi.
This love is unconditional and beyond party affiliations. People in the south worship Modi’s leadership. It might take some more time for the BJP to spread in some areas. The party would have to wait some more time for people to understand the anarchic rule of regional parties and realise that there is no party that is better than the BJP to put the country on the road to progress and make the country walk along the nationalist pathway.
Political observers earlier ruledout BJP opening its account in the North-East and West Bengal. The BJP wiped out Congress and Left parties and expanded its base in just eight years.Going by the enthusiasm of people in Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu towards Modi, the lotus will not take much time to bloom in these states.People find Modisincere in three aspects: nationalism, developmental initiatives, and public welfare.
He has implemented at the national level the same policies that he had implemented in Gujarat state as the Chief Minister. The Gujarat model of development is an example that is fit for the whole country to emulate. He has never stepped back from people’s welfare. Modi is a thorough nationalist. He has implemented all programmes that will make every Indian proud of his country. His policies make even NRIs feel proud about the country.
Since Modi has no family of his own, there is no need for him to amass thousands of crores of rupees through corruption. Those related to him are leading simple lives. People are observing all this.
When atrocities were perpetrated during the Congress regime, people welcomed the alliance of the opposition parties and helped it to form the government. At that time, the opposition parties’ hands were free from corruption. Now, people know what would happento the country should they welcome either the Congress or other opposition parties as an alternative to the Modi-led BJP.
They know that the opposition parties would gobble up the country. Is there an alternative to PM Modi, who is helping the country march on the road to progress with his iron resolve and nationalist perspective? Even a leader like Chandrababu Naidu, who belatedly realised the greatness of Modi, has no alternative but to hail Modi’s rule.
The Mann-ki-Baat programme of Modi also stands as an example of direct connect that Modi has with people. Denmark ambassador to India Freddy Svane described the radio programme as a great experiment. Microsoft founder Bill Gates and many other prominent people appreciated the programme.
The 100th episode of Mann-ki-Baat was aired live at the UN headquarters. Millions of people living abroad heard it. It was aired in 22 Indian languages, 29 dialects and in 11 foreign languages simultaneously. It was a historic moment.
Studies have revealed that at least 100 crore people have listened to it with a lot of enthusiasm. That All India Radio, which had lost its significance with the advent of TV medium, is being patronized by people even in remote villages stands as a testimony to Modi’s popularity. Can any opposition leader deny it?
