The Government of Andhra Pradesh has exempted temples with less than Rs 5 lakh income from the operation of provisions.

According to a GO issued on July 6, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has granted exemption to the temples having assessable income of less than Rs 5 lakh per annum, from the operation of provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Charitable and Hindu Religious and Endowments Act, 1987, for a period of five years.

However, the conditions will not apply to the temples covered either under the ancient monument and archaeological sites. The prevailing traditions of ‘puja vidhanam’, customs and ‘sampradayas’ of the respectable temples will not be distributed and the same will be strictly followed.
