The Meteorological Centre reported the development of a low pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and adjoining Malacca Strait at 0830 hours on Monday, influenced by a cyclonic circulation.
In today’s weather update, it is indicated that the low pressure area is expected to track west-northwestwards and strengthen into a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal by Wednesday. Subsequently, the system is anticipated to move northwestwards, intensifying into a cyclonic storm over the southeast Bay of Bengal within the next 48 hours.
The Meteorological Department warns of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in Rayalaseema over the next 24 hours. Additionally, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at one or two places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema over the next seven days.
During the last 24 hours, rain occurred at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, while dry weather prevailed. The Northeast monsoon has been reported as weak in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and normal in Rayalaseema, according to the latest weather report.
