The Meteorological Centre has issued a special weather report stating that the low-pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast, with associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilting southwards with height, continues to persist. It is expected to move gradually west-northwestwards across Odisha over the next two days.
The report also indicates the presence of a shear zone roughly along Lat. 20° N between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwards with height, which is also likely to persist. As a result, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours and on July 23, 24, and 25. In addition, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are likely to experience similar conditions on July 24 and 25.
Furthermore, strong winds with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph are anticipated at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema during the next five days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected at isolated places in the aforementioned regions on July 24 and 25.
The forecast suggests light to moderate rain is very likely to occur at a few places, or at many places, or at most places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema during the next five days.
During the last 24 hours, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema experienced rainfall at many places. The Southwest monsoon has been reported as normal in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, according to the report.
