Loyalty has become a big question mark in all political parties. When the party is in power everyone acts loyal to it and its leadership. When it loses power the same persons dump their loyalty and run towards the party which is in power.
In the last 10 years, this has happened in the Congress and now it is happening in the BRS. Only very few remain committed to their parties regardless of whether it is in power or not. The leaders of most parties do not give importance to such people.
When the BRS was in power no one dared to speak against the party and its leadership. When the BRS lost power they are now openly speaking against the party and changing their loyalties. This is not confined to top leaders but has spread to lower ranks too.
When the BRS was in power around 25 Congress MLAs shifted their loyalty to it. After the Congress came to power some BRS MLAs are planning to shift their loyalties. If not today they will do that tomorrow.
Around 25 municipalities have come to the Congress from the BRS. In the Sircilla Assembly constituency represented by BRS Working President KT Rama Rao also the BRS is facing the same situation.
When a BRS MLA was asked why they are not preventing their municipalities from going out of their grasp he replied that in the Assembly elections, they had spent a lot of money. If the BRS wants to prevent losing municipalities they will have to spend money. In money and power politics one cannot prevent cadres from shifting loyalties, he added.
The BRS leadership is gradually losing its grip on party cadres and leaders. For this, the BRS cannot blame the Congress as the BRS did the same when it was in power.
In many Assembly constituencies local BRS leaders are leaving the party and joining the Congress. This can affect the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
If the BRS fails to win most of the LS seats in Telangana some BRS leaders may leave it. BRS MLAs are also waiting for the Lok Sabha elections to decide their moves.
Some BRS leaders have the confidence that KCR will do something in the coming days to bring the party back to power. They are still sailing with the party due to that.
The comments of some top BRS leaders that the Congress government would not survive five years have boosted their confidence. At the same time, the Congress government is trying to entangle some top BRS leaders in criminal cases to demoralise its cadres.
But BRS leaders are claiming that when even Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot touch KCR how can Chief Minister Revanth Reddy dare to do that? They are also saying that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy does not enjoy support within his party.
Whatever it may be Telangana is going to witness a lot of political manoeuvres in coming days.
