Madhu Yaskhi Goud, an official spokesperson for the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and a former Member of Parliament, has demanded the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the “Adani Mega Scam.” Speaking at the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) office in Vijayawada, Goud asserted that this investigation should go beyond the revelations made by the Hindenburg Research report, which raised concerns about the Adani Group’s practices.
During his address, Goud alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with his close associate Gautam Adani, has taken significant measures to shield themselves from any consequences related to the scam. He criticized PM Modi for his reluctance to establish a JPC in this case, contrasting it with the Congress-led government’s previous willingness to form such committees for similar matters. Goud also accused the Vice President of India and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla of obstructing the investigation in favour of Modi and Adani.
Goud further claimed that the alleged scam, involving Modi, Adani, and the SEBI Chairperson, is damaging India’s financial stability. He demanded the resignation of the SEBI Chairperson and urged protection for government organizations from further damage. Goud also declared that the Congress party would bring the matter before the public, stating that the people of India are suffering significant losses due to the scam.
He accused PM Modi of compromising national security by allowing Adani to engage in money laundering and entering into overpriced agreements with foreign companies. Goud specifically mentioned a Rs. 530 crore scam in coal purchases and demanded that SEBI disclose details about it. He also criticized the NDA government for allegedly allotting all six major ports in the country to the Adani Group, ignoring a report from NITI Aayog.
Goud alleged that the Adani Group controls a significant portion of India’s port transportation and cargo handling, leading to unchecked drug trafficking through these ports. He cited the Hindenburg report and criticized SEBI for failing to submit a report to the Supreme Court of India, despite being directed to do so within two months. The delay in the investigation, which has now extended to 18 months, was also highlighted as a serious concern.
The press conference was attended by other senior Congress leaders, including APCC’s former working president Mastan Vali, Naraharasetti Narasimha Rao, and K Sivaji.
