BRS leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao has held TDP and Congress responsible for the backwardness of the Mahabubnagar district.
If Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should blame anyone for the backwardness of Mahabubnagar district, he should hold his political guru and former Chief Minister in the combined Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu and the Congress party responsible for the sufferings of the people in Mahabubnagar district.
Speaking to the media here Thursday, he said Mahabubnagar was among the most backward districts in the country before 2014. The Congress and TDP governments failed to take up irrigation projects in the region and it led to acute suffering of people. People from Mahabubnagar used to migrate in search of livelihood to cities. The BRS government under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao changed the face of the district and reverse migration started.
Under the Congress regime, the irrigation projects in Mahabubnagar remained unimplemented.
Former chief minister in combined Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu, Harish Rao recalled, claimed to have adopted Mahabubnagar in 1995, but did precious little to promote the welfare of people.
The BRS government provided irrigation facility to 6.50 lakh acres in Mahabubnagar district as against the erstwhile united AP rulers providing irrigation facility to only 2,700 acres under the Nettempadu project, he pointed out.
