Superstar Mahesh Babu is teaming up with acclaimed director SS Rajamouli for the first time. While the film was officially announced some time ago, the team held a formal pooja ceremony on Thursday at the Aluminium Factory, which houses Rajamouli’s office. The event was attended by Mahesh Babu and his family, including his wife Namrata, along with Rajamouli, his wife Rama Rajamouli, music director MM Keeravani and Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad. Producer KL Narayana and his family members were also present at the ceremony.
Interestingly, Mahesh Babu, who traditionally avoids attending pooja ceremonies for his films due to his personal sentiments, surprised everyone by making an exception for this project. For many of his latest films, his family members would attend such events in his place. Breaking his own tradition, Mahesh’s presence at this event added a unique significance.
The pooja was a private affair, attended by assistant directors and unit members. Unlike Rajamouli’s usual practice of announcing a film with a formal media conference, this launch was kept entirely low-key. According to sources, Rajamouli may hold a press meet later to share more details about the film.
The shooting for the film is set to commence immediately, with initial plans for locations in India. While earlier reports suggested that filming might begin in South Africa or other international locations, it is not yet confirmed. Rajamouli scouted locations in Odisha, hinting that portions of the film might be shot there as well.
Rajamouli has often mentioned that the story of this film is inspired by an Indiana Jones-style adventure. According to unit sources, Priyanka Chopra has been confirmed as the female lead. Known for her prominence in both Hindi cinema and Hollywood, Priyanka’s involvement elevates the project’s international appeal.
