One person was killed in a major fire that broke out in the famous Hotel Sohail at Malakpet in Hyderabad.

As per reports, the density of smoke was very high. Due to this the person who got trapped inside the hotel couldn’t be rescued. No other injuries were reported in the fire mishap.

The deceased has been identified as Shahabuddin, (33). He was found dead on the floor between two huge cauldrons inside the hotel. Shahabuddin died of suffocation caused by smoke, the Malakpet police said. Four fire tenders from Malakpet and Gowliguda fire stations rushed to the spot and managed to put out the flames.

East Zone DCP Sunil Dutt said that Sections 304 and 336 of IPC will be registered against the hotel’s owners.

The entire ground floor of the hotel was destroyed in the fire. As the restaurant is located on the main road on the Malakpet–Nalgonda X Road stretch, traffic was severely affected for a few hours, he added.

The reason behind the fire is being investigated. Preliminary reports suggested that it was caused by an electrical short circuit.
