District Collector K Vetri Selvi has directed officials to ensure the success of the ‘Good Governance Week’ programmes, which will be held from December 19 to 24 in the district.
The Collector convened a meeting with officials on Wednesday to review the preparations for the ‘Good Governance Week’ (GGW).
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Vetri Selvi emphasised the need for a wide campaign and public awareness regarding the GGW programmes in the district.
She noted that the campaign, being conducted under the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, should raise awareness about the steps being taken by the district administration to address public grievances and enhance public service delivery.
“The main objective of the GGW programme is to provide effective governance to the common people and offer quality solutions to their problems in a timely manner. As part of these activities, rallies and workshops should be organised in collaboration with field-level staff,” she stated.
The Collector also instructed that quizzes, essay writing, and oratory competitions be held in educational institutions to create awareness about good governance. She directed the officials to upload videos and photos of success stories related to government development and welfare programmes on the relevant portal.
“The district authorities should highlight at least three success stories regarding the resolution of public problems through the relevant departments. Steps should also be taken to organise a workshop at the Godavari Conference Hall on December 23 as part of the Good Governance Week celebrations,” Collector Vetri Selvi added.
DRO V. Venkateswara Rao, In-charge ZP CEO and DRDA PD Dr. R. Vijayaraju, social welfare officer JV Jayaprakash, and DEO Venkata Lakshmamma were among those who attended the meeting.
