District Collector A Sharat on Friday directed the officials to make advance planning to make Mission Indradhanush a success. He also called for coordination between departments to ensure that the immunisation programme covers all children up to 2 years of age. The children up to 5 years of age need to be focused upon to improve booster coverage, he said.
The Collector was holding a review meeting with the officials of the District Medical and Health on the Mission Indradhanush programme.
The mission was aimed at covering partially and unvaccinated pregnant women and children up to 5 years of age. He directed the officials to prepare a list in advance of children and pregnant women, who missed vaccines, village-wise and primary health centre-wise. He asked the officials to give wide publicity of the programme and ensure that the immunisation programme covers a maximum number of pregnant women and children.
The programme would be conducted between August 7 and 12, between September 11 and 16 and October 9 and 14.
Sharat asked the officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department to ensure that the Anganwadi workers educate parents on the importance of immunisation. Likewise, he asked the officials to ensure that the volunteers from Women Self-Help Groups too take part in the programme.
District Medical and Health Officer Gayatri Devi, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Yellaiah, District Revenue Officer Nagesh, Municipal Commissioner Sujata and others were present.
