Make use of banking services, Collector tells flood victims

Collector Dr G. Srijana has urged flood victims in the NTR district to take advantage of the banking services provided in the aftermath of the recent deluge. Over the past three days, the district administration has facilitated banking services worth 157.85 crore for 2,740 account holders affected by the floods. Of these, loans for 1,900 accounts have been rescheduled, totalling 148.22 crore.
Speaking to the media at the collectorate in Vijayawada on Saturday, Dr Srijana stated that on that day alone, 28.96 crore was rescheduled for 450 accounts. Additionally, new loans amounting to 1.83 crore were approved for 315 accounts, which included 47 lakh in consumer loans.
She emphasised that bankers are promptly addressing new loan applications, with 9.62 crore in new loans sanctioned for 840 account holders so far. “Flood-affected individuals are encouraged to utilise the banking services available to them,” she said, appreciating the efforts of bankers in extending their services to meet the needs of the community.
In related efforts, the Transport Department is actively overseeing vehicle insurance claims in flood-hit areas, as directed by the state government. To date, the department has facilitated the settlement of 17.30 crore in insurance claims for vehicle owners.
According to a press release from the Commissioner of the Transport Department, a total of 4,836 insurance claims have been resolved following meetings with the relevant insurance companies. Furthermore, 4,676 vehicles have been repaired by local mechanics, while 2,258 vehicles received service at 65 authorised service centres, ensuring timely assistance for affected vehicle owners.
