Minister for Revenue, Registration and Stamps Anagani Satya Prasad criticised the previous YSRCP government for creating unprecedented land issues in the State and announced the launch of ‘Revenue Sadassulu’ to address these problems. Speaking at a revenue convention in Peteru village under Repalle Rural mandal, the minister stated that these conventions are aimed at resolving land disputes and safeguarding the rights of landowners affected by the policies of former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The minister emphasised that the conferences are being conducted as a ‘sacred initiative’ under the direction of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to ensure justice for those affected by alleged mismanagement and irregularities in land administration during the YSRCP regime.
Minister Satya Prasad revealed that the government had repealed the controversial Land Titling Act, which had posed obstacles for landowners. A new law to prevent land encroachments is being introduced to protect citizens from land grabs. Revenue conventions will be held across all villages in the state for 33 days, beginning Friday. The aim is to bring governance closer to the people and address land-related grievances efficiently. The minister assured that citizens would no longer need to visit government offices for land-related issues, as these conventions will aim to resolve matters on-site wherever possible. The minister disclosed that public meetings held in areas affected by the previous government’s re-survey initiative had revealed around 2,60,000 grievances. He alleged that the re-survey was carried out randomly, often without adequate notification or consultation with landowners. To address these issues, the government is conducting Grama Sabhas to resolve concerns arising from the re-survey. Upon resolution of disputes, farmers and landowners will be given free passbooks with the state government’s official seal. The minister warned that any official found negligent or corrupt during the revenue conferences would face suspension. Additionally, grievances not resolved on-site will be referred to the relevant departments for further action, with citizens receiving receipts to track their applications.
