Dr Mamillapalli Phani Kumar, the chief priest of Sri Kashi Visweswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Nunna, near Vijayawada, and a gold medallist in Astrology, was awarded the Jyothir Mitra Award by the Vishwajyothi Jyotisha Vignan Samstha based in Hyderabad. This recognition coincided with the celebration of the Viswavasu Nama Samvatsara Ugadi. The award ceremony took place at the Golden Way Hotel in Vijayawada on Sunday.
The award was presented by Viswanath, chairman of the Vishwajyothi Jyotisha Vignan Samstha, alongside notable figures including Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Sarvajna Peeteham Asthana Siddhanthi Lakkavajhula Vijaya Subrahmanya Siddhanthi, Shatadhik Grandha Sankalana author Adipudi Siva Sairam, Jyothisha Visharada Grandha author Palaparthi Srikantha Sharma, and former faculty member of Telugu University Puchcha Srinivasa Rao. Following the award presentation, a Vedic Astrology Conference was held in honour of the occasion.
