The long-cherished dream of the people of Warangal is all set to become a reality. The Congress government in the State, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, is focusing on the development of Warangal and is making swift progress towards making the Mamnoor Airport operational.
In this regard, on Thursday, the Minister for Forest, Environment, Endowments, and Endowments Konda Surekha, along with the local MP, MLAs, and officials, conducted a site visit for land acquisition related to the construction of the Airport.
During the visit, the Minister met with the residents of Gadipally, Gunturupally, and Nakkalapally villages and discussed the land acquisition process, involving the acquisition of 253 acres of land for the airport. Earlier, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, during a visit to Warangal recently, announced that Warangal would develop as a second capital of the State and that the airport would become operational soon.
The Minister explained to the farmers how their lives would improve with the availability of the airport. She assured the farmers that they would be compensated for their valuable land based on its market value. Surekha also mentioned that the 233 farmers and landowners losing their land would be allocated alternative land in accordance with their preferences. Additionally, she promised that infrastructure facilities such as roads, drainage, electricity, and other amenities would be provided as per the farmers’ requests.
The Telangana government is determined to develop Warangal City on a par with Hyderabad. The minister emphasised that the Mamnoor Airport would be developed to meet the future industrial needs of Warangal, with plans to upgrade it into an international airport.
Though it was previously stated that setting up another commercial airport within 150 kilometres of the Hyderabad airport was not feasible, the government has reportedly persuaded the Central government and the GMR Group to pave the way for the establishment of the Mamnoor Airport. The construction work for the airport is likely to commence soon, according to sources.
