A 22-year-old man allegedly killed his friend for texting and calling his girlfriend who was earlier in a relationship with the victim, police said on Saturday. The accused later beheaded the deceased, removed his heart and private parts, chopped his fingers, and later walked to the police station to surrender on Friday, the police said.
Police said that while chopping the victim’s body, the alleged killer sent pictures through WhatsApp to his girlfriend with messages like “this finger touched you,” “these lips kissed you,” “this heart touched you,” etc.
Police launched a detailed investigation after registering a case based on the accused’s statement and recovered the deceased’s body, and shifted it to a government hospital for autopsy.
Police said that the murdered Naveen and Harihara Krishna did their Intermediate together at a college in Dilsukhnagar.
Police said one Nenawat Naveen from Sirisingand in the Charukonda Mandal of Nagarkurnool district was studying final year BTech at the MG University in Nalgonda.
Harihara, who was studying in the same college, became friends with Naveen. Both of them loved the same girl and quarrelled about it frequently.
After developing a grudge against Naveen, Harihara invited him to his friend’s room in Abdullapurmet in Rangareddy district on February 17 to attend a party.
Both the friends argued with each other about the girl during the party. The two men fought after getting high on alcohol, and Harihara throttled Naveen, police said adding that the killer beheaded the victim, cut off his privates, heart and chopped off his fingers. Later, Harihara dumped Naveen’s body in a nearby forest.
“The accused allegedly took pictures and sent them to his girlfriend on WhatsApp,” the police said, adding that a detailed probe is going on.
Police suspect that the accused had watched YouTube and the crime web series on how to kill without leaving evidence.
Meanwhile, Naveen’s father Sankaraiah filed a complaint with the police on February 22 as he was not attending college. Based on the complaint police took up the investigation.
Harihara became afraid and surrendered before the police on Friday and revealed the entire story. Based on information given by Harihara, police recovered Naveen’s body on Saturday and sent it to the Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway, police added.
The girl at the centre of the incident was also a student of the same college. The two fell in love with the girl. But it was Naveen who had first proposed to her and she had accepted his proposal, although a few years later the two parted ways. The girl then got into a relationship with Harihara Krishna after he proposed to her, police said.
Despite breaking up, Naveen was in constant touch with the girl and kept on texting and making calls to her which upset Harihara Krishna. He waited for three months for a chance to “settle” the matter.
Police registered a case against Harihara Krishna under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 and also the SC/ST Act.
