In a shocking incident, a man allegedly poisoned his maternal nephew for an affair with his daughter at Gudem village under Dandepalle mandal in the district on Monday. The accused, identified as Darangula Rajmoui, allegedly murdered his nephew Duddangula Anil (20) by giving his beer laced with poison.
The incident came to light when the selfie video recorded by Anil while undergoing treatment in a hospital in Karimnagar surfaced on Tuesday. The youth, in the selfie video, alleged that his maternal uncle, Rajmouli had taken him to a secluded place and forced him to drink beer at the point of a knife.
According to police, Anil, who hailed from Gudem village unde Dandepalle mandal, was a daily wage earner. He was in love with Rajmouli’s daughter. Rajmouli opposed his daughter’s love affair with his maternal nephew. He even warned his daughter of dire consequences if she continued to have an affair with Anil.
Police initially registered a case of suspicious death and later altered the section to 302 (murder) after the selfie video surfaced. The police arrested Rajmouli.
