A man has been arrested by the Machilipatnam police on Monday in connection with the alleged rape of a minor girl. The victim, a 17-year-old, was pursuing her degree at a local government college in Machilipatnam while residing in a social welfare hostel.
According to the police, the victim had been staying at a government social welfare hostel in Machilipatnam and was pursuing her graduation. During her stay at the hostel, she came in contact with Avula Satish (26), a resident of the same area, through social media. Over time, they began meeting regularly whenever the girl had no classes. On Sunday, they decided to meet as it was a holiday. Satish picked her up and took her to an abandoned location in the suburban area. There, he allegedly forced the victim to consume alcohol, and once she was intoxicated, he raped her.
Around 10 pm, Satish dropped the girl off at her hostel.
The hostel warden noticed that the girl was stumbling while entering the premises and questioned her, prompting her to confess about the incident. She was immediately taken to the government hospital in Machilipatnam, where doctors confirmed that she had been raped.
Upon receiving the information, the police registered a case and arrested the accused, Satish, on Monday. The investigation is currently underway.
