Maoist party member, sympathise arrested

The Warangal Police on Friday arrested a member of a banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), known as Maoist Party, and also a sympathiser of the party, according to Warangal Police Commissioner A V Ranganath.

The arrested Moist Party zonal committee member, Mula Devender Reddy alias Madhav, alias Karapa and alias Nandu Vamana Reddy belonged to Babberu Chiluka village in Mancherial district. He was an important special zonal member. The sympathiser arrested was Tirupathi Reddy. Tirupathi Reddy was a real estate businessman.

The Police Commissioner said that the police had seized Rs 21,000, revolutionary literature, a pen drive and a mobile phone. He said that Devender Reddy had studied up to the 7th class. He joined the CPI (People’s War Group) in 1978.

In the encounter between the police and the Maoists in 1994, Devender Reddy’s wife Jyothi died. The police arrested Devender Reddy and the Maoist Party sympathiser at Subedari bust top in Warangal when they were on their way to Hyderabad. Devender Reddy was on his way to Warangal to consult with an ophthalmologist as he was suffering from an eye problem, Ranganath said and added that he was accused in 33 cases.
