Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha issued a statement urging BRS fact-finding committee to not to create panic among people by making false claims on maternal and infant mortality at Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad.
“We are bringing before you the failures of ten years of previous governance related to Gandhi Hospital. We are going to set up a separate department for hospital administration in all major hospitals.”
“No amount of intrigues by you can stop our determination to strengthen the public health sector which serves the poor,” he added.
Government Orders (GOs) were issued for the establishment of 25 medical colleges in three years. The teaching staff required for these 25 new colleges is 3,368, the previous rulers had recruited only 1,078, said Raja Narsimha.
Releasing a data, the Health Minister said that Gandhi Hospital receives last minute referrals from Corporate/Private/District Hospitals.  In maternal deaths in the year 2022 was 84, 2023 was 112 and 2024 was 68 until August. In infant deaths in 2022 it was 320, 2023 it was 346 and in 2024 it was 189 until August. In children deaths in 2022 it was 96, in 2023 it was 84 and in 2024- it was 52 until August.
Comparing all the deaths average the Health Minister said that in 2022 the average deaths were 42 per cent, in 2023- 45 per cent and in 2024- 39 percent until August.
They are repeatedly trying to damage the name of the Gandhi Hospital which is providing treatment to thousands of patients.
Patients who come here are worried by false propaganda.
“Our government will take all necessary measures to prevent deaths.  Our government’s top priority is to provide better facilities not only in Gandhi, but in all hospitals in the state.”
