Mechanic Rocky runs out of fuel!

Must read

Vishwak Sen, the up-and-coming actor, is gradually expanding his reach with each new movie he does. His films Gaami and Gangs of Godavari came out this year, and his third film Mechanic Rocky is being released today. The director of the movie is Ravi Teja Mullapudi, with Meenakhi Chaudhary and Shraddha Srinath starring as the female leads. This is the tale and its progression.
Story:
Rakesh, alias Rocky (played by Vishwak Sen), runs a mechanic garage and driving school that he inherited from his father (played by VK Naresh). In college, Rocky was in love with his classmate Priya (played by Meenakshi Chaudhary), but she hated him due to a misunderstanding. Later, Priya joins Rocky’s driving school to learn driving, and Rocky learns that her brother (played by Rachakonda Vishwadev) has passed away. To help her, Rocky starts dating Priya again and falls in love.
However, a local don, Ranki Reddy (played by Sunil), wants to seize the garage, as it is a prime property. He gives Rocky an ultimatum to vacate the garage. Meanwhile, Maya (played by Shraddha Srinath), an insurance agent, joins Rocky’s driving school to learn driving. After Rocky’s father passes away, he is supposed to pay Rs 50 lakhs to Ranki Reddy within 10 days. At this critical juncture, Maya offers to help Rocky. To uncover the reasons behind Maya’s willingness to help Rocky, Priya’s death and the mystery surrounding Rocky’s father’s demise, watch Mechanic Rocky.
Analysis:
After exploring fantasy, supernatural and mythological themes, Tollywood is now shifting its focus to cybercrime stories. Director Ravi Teja Mullapudi has also chosen to tackle cybercrime in his film Mechanic Rocky, starring Vishwak Sen. While the concept is intriguing, the director takes a long time to develop his point, resulting in a routine and boring first half, except for a few scattered jokes. The director’s intention was to craft a thriller, but the film ultimately falls flat, despite numerous twists and turns in the second half. In fact, the story only begins to unfold in the second half, where the director has woven in some interesting scenes. However, the climax is a major letdown, ending on a routine and silly note. Furthermore, the film lacks strong emotions, which is another significant drawback.
The director aimed to convey a serious message in the second half, but the first half is marred by silly jokes and unnecessary scenes. Many scenes feel dragged out, with characters forced into the narrative. Upon examining the film as a whole, it’s clear that the first and second halves feel disjointed. When the director reveals key points, the audience can anticipate what will happen next. The film’s non-linear storytelling, featuring multiple flashbacks, is an unconventional approach.
The romance between Vishwak Sen and Meenakshi fail to impress and the songs are a major disappointment. Jakes Bejoy’s music falls short of expectations.
Overall, while the director raises a relevant and serious issue, he fails to execute it effectively.

Performance:
When it comes to performances, Vishwak Sen plays Mechanic Rocky in his usual style, but nothing stands out in this role. His character could have been stronger. Meenakshi Chaudhary, who has appeared in several recent films, delivers a better performance in this one. However, the highlight of the film is undoubtedly Shraddha Srinath, who steals the show with her impressive performance. In fact, she and Vishwak Sen are the saviours of the film.
Naresh plays the role of Rocky’s father, which is a routine one for him. In the climax, he goes overboard in a scene with Aadhi. Sunil has only three scenes in the film. Harshavardhan, Viva Harsha, Rachakonda Vishwadev and Raghuram all play their parts well. Unfortunately, Aadhi’s character is underutilised. The dialogues are just okay and the music is average. On the other hand, the cinematography is good.

VERDICT
Mechanic Rocky fails to live up to its pre-release hype. Although the main plot is revealed only in the second half, it tackles a serious issue. Unfortunately,
the director falters, as the first half is a tedious bore. While the twists and turns in the second half offer some interesting moments, the climax ultimately falls short of expectations.
