Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said that there is no such thing as national festival status.
During the Medaram Maha Jatara , Union Minister Kishan Reddy visited Sammakka and Saralamma and presented jaggaery.
He said, “any people are asking to organise Medaram Jatara as a national festival. There is no such thing as a national festival policy. As a Union Culture Minister, I affirm that there is no existing mechanism for declaring any festival as a national festival”. He said that he will try to get international recognition for Medara in the coming days. The Centre sanctioned Rs 3.14 crore this year to the state government for the conduct of the ‘jathara’.
He said that he offered prayers to Ammavaru that the country should be prosperous with crops without natural calamities.
Also, a temporary campus of Tribal University will be set up in Mulugu. He said that the Tribal University will work under the auspices of Hyderabad Central University.
