Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reviewed issues connected to repairs, inspections and queries of the inquiry commission regarding the Medigadda Barrage. The review was held on Sunday at the Chief Minister’s official residence in New Delhi. The meeting was attended by Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Irrigation Department Secretary Rahul Bojja and Irrigation Department Advisor Adityanath Das. Uttam and the officials brought to the Chief Minister’s attention the matters discussed with the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) held on Saturday in New Delhi. The Chief Minister gave his opinion on these issues and suggestions regarding the NDSA meeting scheduled in New Delhi on Monday in which TG officials and engineers would be participating. The CM who is in New Delhi on a two-day visit will invite top Congress leaders to the public meeting planned in Warangal focused on the waiver of agricultural loans. Sources said Revanth Reddy is slated to meet Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and is also likely to seek an appointment with former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to invite him to the Warangal public meeting. There is a possibility that the Chief Minister would discuss the selection of the new TPCC chief and cabinet expansion with the Congress high command. He may also meet Union Ministers. The Chief Minister wants to inform the Congress leadership that since the farm loan waiver was announced in Warangal during the Assembly poll campaign, it would be appropriate for the party to organise a public meeting there to highlight its implementation, the sources added. The Telangana government launched the first phase of the farm loan waiver scheme on July 18 and Rs 6,098 crore was credited to farmers’ bank accounts. This phase covers loans of up to Rs 1 lakh. The scheme will be rolled out in three phases, with the second phase waiving loans of up to Rs 1.5 lakh by July-end and the final phase covering loans of up to Rs 2 lakh in August. Revanth Reddy’s New Delhi visit comes close on the heels of the launching of this flagship scheme, underscoring its importance on the Congress government’s agenda. The waiving of farm loans was a major promise that helped the party to win in TG.
