MEIL wins contract to build NPCIL’s electrical reactors

Hyderabad- based Megha Engineering & Infrastructure limited (MEIL) has won a contract by  Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) to construct two electrical reactors of 700 Mega Watt each in Karnataka’s Kaiga.
The construction firm won a bid of Rs 12,799.92 crore. The project marks a groundbreaking moment with the introduction of the Quality cum Cost-Based Selection (QCBS) methodology. This rigorous process ensured a meticulous evaluation of technical expertise and cost-effectiveness for all proposals.
The tendering process began in May 2023, with the technical bid opening in October 2023. The highly competitive bidding process saw participation from prominent industry leaders – BHEL, L&T, and MEIL.
MEIL Director Ch Subbaiah said, “This contract represents the most significant project for MEIL and our strategic entry into the nuclear energy sector. MEIL’s unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation has been recognised through this landmark achievement.
The company is excited to contribute to India’s self-reliance in clean energy solutions.”
