Must read

Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) president, Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), the newly elected president of ACA and Vijayawada MP, has outlined plans to ensure that the ACA Stadium in Mangalagiri is ready to host international cricket matches within a year. The stadium is currently under construction, and Chinni has committed to addressing existing issues and completing the work to prepare the venue for international events.
During his visit to the stadium on Sunday, Chinni inspected various areas, including the playing field, gallery, and other amenities still under development. He expressed dissatisfaction with the progress, attributing delays to the negligence of the previous government and the contracting agency responsible for the construction. Chinni noted several defects in the stadium’s construction and emphasised the need to resolve legal disputes with the contracting agency within the next two to three months.
He stated that once these legal issues are resolved, the ACA plans to restart the construction and complete the stadium to host international cricket matches within a year. Chinni highlighted that certain areas, such as the dressing rooms, restrooms, and rooms for referees and analysts, have not met the expectations of the BCCI and will need to be reconstructed.
Additionally, Chinni mentioned that the gallery requires modifications to improve the viewing experience for spectators. The ACA plans to engage a consultant to address these changes. Following the formation of the Apex Committee, the ACA will prioritise the completion of the Mangalagiri Stadium, including the provision of necessary amenities.
Furthermore, considering the stadium’s seating capacity, Chinni announced plans to construct a double railway overbridge (ROB) on the nearby railway line to improve accessibility. The ACA has already communicated with the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) regarding this proposal.
Guntur District Cricket Association president Ramana Murthy, secretary Ramesh, Central Zone Academy chairman Purushotham, Stadium Manager Bhaskar, Women’s Wing Manager Bapuji, and other officials were present during the visit.
