Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu visited Srinagar Airport on Thursday to review the progress of development works.
Despite the recent tense security situation following the terror attack in Pahalgam, the Minister appreciated the alertness and dedication of the airport staff. He praised their efforts in maintaining passenger safety and ensuring continued services without causing panic.
Naidu also lauded the effective coordination between security forces, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and airport authorities, which helped ensure the safe movement of passengers during the recent crisis.
He reviewed the upgraded infrastructure, support systems and security arrangements at the airport, and announced that commercial flight operations, briefly suspended over the past few days, have now resumed.
Later, the Minister visited the Polo View Market near Lal Chowk, where he interacted with local shopkeepers. He assured them of the government’s commitment to restoring normalcy and boosting tourism in the region.
Naidu said that all necessary steps are being taken to provide a safe and comfortable travel experience for those using Srinagar Airport.
