Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh chaired the 60th day of Praja Darbar at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) office in Visakhapatnam on Monday morning, marking the second day of his visit to the city. An appeal was made by representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Unemployed Special Teachers Federation. They emphasised that this approach aligns with recruitment policies followed in other states.
Among the petitioners was K Ramadevi, a Visakhapatnam resident and former contract employee at the APSRTC Narsipatnam depot during the Samaikya Andhra Movement. She expressed concern over the government’s failure to implement the 2013 agreement with the workers’ union and called for the enforcement of the breadwinner scheme for families of contract workers. She appealed to the minister for intervention to ensure justice.
Reparthi Raju, a resident of Visakhapatnam, voiced concerns about alleged land encroachment behind the ZPH School in Vepagunta, Pendurthi constituency. Despite multiple complaints, he alleged that no remedial measures had been taken.
Similarly, N Srinivasa Rao, a retired Special Deputy Collector and former Revenue DT from Paderu filed an appeal seeking the removal of two officials, T. Appa Rao and Eshwar Rao, from the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) in ASR District. Another petitioner, R. Lakshmi, a carpenter, narrated his struggle regarding a 150-yard plot he had purchased in Sujatha Nagar Teachers Layout, Pendurthi. He alleged that Abit Raju had encroached upon his property and that, despite multiple complaints, authorities had failed to take action. He sought urgent intervention to reclaim his land. K.
