IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that the Congress’s stand on Maoists is the Congress’s, and the BJP’s stand that of theirs.

He said Union Minister of Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay had revealed their government’s stand on Maoists, as the Congress government in Telangana had expressed its stand on the issue.

“The then Congress government held peace talks with Maoists during YSR’s time, and at that time, I was an MLA. Maoists must join the mainstream. Peace should prevail,” he said.

Sridhar Babu, who was speaking during a chit-chat with journalists on Tuesday at the CLP office, said that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is a straightforward person and tells issues as it is. However, his adversaries understood him differently, he said.

the BRS loves government employees, why didn’t they give them salaries on time during their rule? As soon as we came to power, we gave DA to employees although the government had been facing severe financial problems,” Sridhar said.

He said the Congress government has been facing troubles due to the BRS government’s mistakes. He said that it is not proper for BJP leaders to demand the dissolution of the Assembly.

“Should we ask the BJP admin to step down, as it failed in Pahalgam? Did the BJP fulfil its assurances? Is Modi bagging lakhs of crores worth of investments when he goes to foreign countries? The people will say whether we can run the government or not. We have been running the government ‘brilliantly’ for the last one and a half years. Why should we dissolve the Assembly?” he said.

Reacting to criticism of the opposition regarding hiring helicopters, Sridhar said the government hired helicopters as the expenditure involved is less than using cars.

Reacting to criticism on conducting the Miss World contest, Sridhar said, “We got an opportunity and it is not wise to reject the opportunity. In the past, Mumbai conducted this. However, we will use this beauty pageant for the development of the state with the slogan ‘beauty with purpose.’

Reacting to another question, Sirdhar said the BRS government increased the retirement age as it could not give retirement benefits to employees. However, the Congress government aims to provide jobs to the unemployed, he added.

Reacting to BRS MLC Kavitha’s ‘Social Telangana’ statement, Sridhar asked why she didn’t speak about social justice during the last 10 years.

On Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy’s criticism about the caste survey in Telangana, he said the Centre has the authority to conduct a census, but states have the right to conduct surveys.

He said that 80 per cent of Skill University students have got jobs in the pharma industry and that they will conduct ‘Saraswathi Harathi’ at 6.30 pm during the Saraswati River Pushkaralu for 12 days.
