As part of his North Andhra tour, Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs, and Sports, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, visited the Visakhapatnam Depot of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and inaugurated a Super Luxury bus and three Express buses. These new additions will operate on routes to Paderu, Vizianagaram, and Amalapuram, enhancing connectivity and travel comfort for passengers.
During his address, Ramprasad Reddy announced plans to requisition additional buses, including approximately 2,000 electric buses to be allotted across Andhra Pradesh. This move aligns with APSRTC’s goal to convert its entire bus fleet to electric buses by 2029. The Minister emphasized the importance of addressing employee grievances and improving working conditions, acknowledging the health concerns of RTC workers. He assured efforts to provide better facilities and amenities, prioritizing both passengers and employees.
Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao reiterated the commitment to fulfilling the TDP’s election promise of a ‘free bus scheme for women,’ expected to be introduced soon. RTC Zonal Chairman Donnu Dora ensured that employee issues would be regularly communicated to the government and resolved promptly.
The event also saw the Minister distributing awards to the best drivers and conductors from seven RTC Depots in the city, recognizing their exceptional service. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Joint Collector Mayur Ashok and Deputy Transport Commissioner Adinarayana.
