The Minister for BC Welfare, Savitha, expressed strong criticism of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s comments, calling them irresponsible and highly inappropriate. Speaking to reporters at her camp office in the town on Wednesday, she questioned Jagan’s maturity, particularly his remarks about police and his recent visit to Papireddypalli.
Savitha condemned Jagan’s statements about stripping police uniforms and his comments directed at law enforcement, calling them an affront to public decency and State institutions. She accused Jagan of trying to provoke people and create unrest to maintain his relevance, particularly pointing out how he had been restricted to just 11 seats in the 2024 elections.
Savitha remarked that Jagan’s dream of ruling for 30 years had been shattered, leading him to become irrational.
She also reminded Jagan of his history of exploiting “death politics” for personal and political gain. Referring to the untimely death of his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Savitha said Jagan had used the tragedy for political leverage, although he never visited the locations where his father passed away or was brought back. Similarly, she mentioned how Jagan used the death of his uncle YS Vivekananda Reddy for political mileage.
Savitha questioned Jagan’s indifference to the numerous murders and suicides during his tenure as Chief Minister, which had affected marginalised communities. She recalled several incidents, including the tragic deaths of families in Kurnool, victims of harassment by YSRCP leaders, and the killing of a man named Raj in Bittapalli village. She accused Jagan’s government of using brute force and violence against the public.
She also reminded him of the role the police had played in ensuring his safety during his 2014-2019 Padayatra. While police had risked their lives to provide protection, she accused Jagan of undermining them during his time in power from 2019-2024, forcing them into unconstitutional acts.
Savitha urged Jagan to learn decency and conduct from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who she praised for his respectful and principled approach, even in difficult situations, such as during political violence and public protests.
