State Medical and Health Minister Viddala Rajini has said that the role of doctors in society is very important. A training programme for the officers of the Administrative Department of government medical colleges and government teaching hospitals across the State started in Vijayawada on Wednesday. She was the chief guest of the inaugural programme of the two-day training programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that training was being given to the staff on service rules, file management and administrative responsibilities in hospitals and colleges. She said that many reforms were brought in the field of medicine and health after the Jagan government came to power. Besides, 49,000 people have been newly appointed in the Medical and Health Department. She said that the work pressure on the medical staff in the tertiary care department had been reduced with the initiatives of the government.
The minister further said that Chief Minister Jagan wanted to establish 17 new medical colleges in the State with the aim of having at least one medical college in every district. In five medical colleges, the classes are also going to start this academic year while the existing medical colleges and teaching hospitals are being renovated with funds of more than Rs.8500 crore.
The minister stated that the government was spending Rs 16,000 crore on the primary, secondary care, construction and development of new medical colleges and development of teaching hospitals and Rs 3,000 crore was being spent annually under Arogyasri. She instructed the staff to follow punctuality and maintain coordination between the superintendents of hospitals and the principles of medical colleges.
Director of Medical Education Dr Narasimham, Additional DME (ACADEMIC) Dr Satya Vara Prasad, Dy Director Karri Apparao, Hospital Superintendents, Deputy Superintendents, RMOs, ADs, Administrators, Principals, Vice-Principals and ADs of medical colleges across the State participated in the programme.
