Minister inspects TIDCO houses under construction

State government providing houses to beneficiaries by taking just one rupee

Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Adimulapu Suresh has said that the State government is constructing over 2.62 lakh AP TIDCO houses to fulfil people’s dreams of having their own houses. The beneficiaries are getting 300 sq ft houses for only one rupee, he said.

In view of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s visit to Gudivada, Adimulapu Suresh inspected the AP TIDCO houses on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that out of 2.62 lakh houses, construction of 50,000 houses had already been completed and they were handed over to the beneficiaries. The rest of the houses would be handed over after setting up all the facilities at the TIDCO colonies. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will hand over around 9,000 houses at Gudivada, he said.

He said that local MLA Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao (Nani) and the District Collector were focusing on completing the construction of the houses and added that the TIDCO colony would be turned into a township. The minister further ordered the officials concerned to prepare a house maintenance plan and stated that a GO would be issued regarding the establishment of a residents welfare association.

He made it clear that the government was allocating TIDCO houses by taking only one rupee from the beneficiaries. Seventy per cent of the houses had been registered in the name of the beneficiaries. The minister ordered steps to sanction loans to the beneficiaries and asked them to complete the remaining works if there were any.

District Collector P Raja Babu, TIDCO Corporation Director P Raghavarao, MD Sridhar, TIDCO PO B Chinnodu, CE Krishna Reddy, RDO Padmavathi, DRDA PD Prasada, Gudivada Municipal Commissioner Murali Krishna and others accompanied the minister.
